Clear boundaries for your information.

The Solace Nights iOS app keeps your diary in local app storage rather than on a Solace Nights server and marks its database directory for backup exclusion. The website is separate and uses limited information to run the Phase-0 waitlist and demand test.

Who is responsible

Ashley Knight, trading as Solace Nights, is the controller for information handled by the Solace Nights website and for support or privacy requests. Contact [email protected] for privacy questions or requests.

The iOS app

The iOS app does not create an account. Its app code does not send diary entries, analytics, or tracking information to Ashley Knight, Solace Nights, or any third party, and it does not display advertising or make network requests. Wake date, bedtime, wake time, the quality label you choose, and local creation and update timestamps are stored in the app's local database on your device.

You can edit or delete individual entries inside the app.

On iOS, Solace Nights marks the Documents/SQLite directory for exclusion from iCloud Backup and computer backups using Apple's supported backup setting. The app reads the setting back before opening the diary. Apple controls how its backup service applies the setting; Solace Nights does not inspect Apple backup contents and does not provide a sync or restore service.

Deleting the app removes the local diary. Solace Nights and support cannot access or restore diary entries.

The diary, six sleep-information guides, three timed Sleep Now routines, the Support screen, and Privacy Policy are bundled with the app and available offline.

Information the website and support channel handle

  • Waitlist details: email address, optional intent, displayed price and currency, signup time, pseudonymous visitor ID, traffic source, price-test arm, and any UTM campaign parameters.
  • Analytics: when the Phase-0 demand-test funnel is active, the analytics implementation is configured to handle a pseudonymous visitor ID, page and funnel events, traffic/campaign properties, price-test arm, browser/device properties, and approximate location derived by Mixpanel from the request IP. After waitlist signup instrumentation is enabled, the email may be attached to the corresponding Mixpanel profile.
  • Support and privacy correspondence: your email address, message content and device or app details you deliberately send, and email delivery metadata such as sender, recipient, subject, and time. Selecting Email support asks your device to open an email app. No message is sent unless you choose to send it through your mail provider.
  • Hosting and security logs: Cloudflare proxies and protects the website, and Vercel hosts it. They may process request metadata such as IP address, browser details, requested path, timing, and diagnostic information to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the website.

The website does not receive your sleep diary and does not collect payment-card information.

Why we use website and support information

  • To record and respond to a waitlist request and send requested product updates.
  • To measure whether people want the proposed service, compare acquisition sources and price-test arms, and improve the funnel.
  • To operate, secure, diagnose, and prevent abuse of the website.
  • To respond to privacy or support requests.

We rely on your request when recording a waitlist signup or responding to support, and on legitimate interests to operate and secure the service where those interests are not overridden by your rights. Non-essential analytics and experiment storage requires consent under UK electronic-communications rules; this notice does not itself provide that consent.

Cookies and similar storage

The website uses first-party storage for a pseudonymous visitor ID, price-test arm, traffic source, and available UTM campaign values. Those first-party values are configured for up to one year. Mixpanel may also use browser storage for its pseudonymous analytics identity.

The Privacy and Support pages do not initialize Mixpanel or create experiment/attribution cookies. Clearing site data in your browser removes browser-held identifiers.

Service providers and transfers

Cloudflare proxies and protects the website, Vercel hosts it, Neon hosts the waitlist database, and Mixpanel processes website analytics. Google Workspace delivers and stores support and privacy email. These providers act under their service and data-protection terms. The current Neon database and Mixpanel project are hosted in the United States, and Cloudflare and Google operate globally, so information may be processed outside the United Kingdom. Solace Nights relies on the providers' contractual transfer safeguards and security measures for those restricted transfers.

Retention and deletion

Waitlist and analytics information is reviewed at least annually and is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed for the Phase-0 research and follow-up purpose. A verified deletion request is handled sooner unless information must be kept for a legal or security reason. Hosting and security logs follow the provider's configured service retention.

Support and privacy correspondence is kept while needed to respond to and manage the request, then deleted when it is no longer needed, unless it must be kept for a legal or security reason. Email delivery and security metadata follow Google's configured service retention.

This website retention is separate from the iOS diary.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Send requests to [email protected]. We may need to verify that the request relates to you.

UK users can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. You may contact us first so we have an opportunity to resolve the issue.
